Is Trinity important for today? Oh, yes! A lot of people think that Trinity is some little sort of add-on to Christianity. When we’re talking about Trinity—about Father, Son. and Spirit—we’re talking about who God is; and knowing God—that is life. Jesus says in John 17:3, “this is eternal life to know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” That is eternal life. To press in to know God better is so important and so important for today. I look at, for example, people who cannot believe in God: someone like a Christopher Hitchens, and he believes that God is just a heavenly dictator and therefore he doesn’t even want God to exist. And you know, if he’s right if God is just ruler and not love. Why I am not sure I want God to exist either. But if God is a Father, eternally characterized by loving his Son, and he wants to welcome us into his love, well, wouldn’t you want this God to exist? This God is true. We should want to know him, and he’s so beautiful.
