This book is not a detailed commentary. It is an introduction, a map—and a tasting. Its goal is to help you appreciate and enjoy just how good and wise and nourishing and beautiful God’s Word is. More even than that: this book seeks to draw you to worship the Lord of Scripture.
Philippians contains one of the most splendid descriptions in all of Scripture of Christ’s humiliation and exaltation. It delineates the main contours of true experiential religion and speaks directly to the heart. The author invites us to learn anew what it is to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Phil. 4:4).

Endorsements
“Think of this book as a visit from a seasoned pastor, one who opens to you the Word of God with freshness and tender counsel. The pastor in this case is Dr. Stephen Yuille, whom I have had the privilege of knowing for many years and can heartily commend as an erudite scholar, faithful minister of the Word, and one of the world’s foremost experts on the Puritans. (As one might expect, Puritans such as Perkins, Manton, and Bunyan all appear at various points in this short volume.)
Dr. Yuille’s guide through Paul’s letter of joy is both delicious to the spiritual senses and delightfully straightforward. If you are a true believer, you will walk away from this book, by the Spirit’s grace, with joy in your heart, peace in your soul, and renewed vigour in running the Christian race.”

“Our digitally mediated world beckons us to find joy in pleasures, comfort, and entertainment. But the Spirit of God, through the Word of God, invites us to find meaning, purpose, and true joy in Christ alone. In this engaging and accessible volume, Stephen Yuille not only provides rich pastoral insights into the apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippians; he also forges a pathway for us to truly appreciate what it means to ‘rejoice in the Lord always.’”
Amy L. Crider,
Director, Center for Writing & Rhetoric;
Associate Professor of Foundations of Education, Jack D. Terry School of Educational Ministries,
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
“Philippians is Scripture’s great letter of joy, and Stephen Yuille has written a book that not only explains that joy but awakens it. With a pastor’s warmth and a theologian’s care, he keeps Christ at the heart of every page, showing how all our gladness flows from union and communion with the Saviour. Enjoy Philippians is a nourishing and deeply Christ-centred feast for the soul.”
